Marisa's Dandelion Patch

About Me (Boring Stuff)

I was born in November, 1958. I'm a Scorpio with a bit of fire (Sag) thrown in. (More about my birth chart on my astrology pages.) I'm the oldest of three girls. My mom is a retired registered nurse; my dad is a retired barber and retired steel mill worker. Currently, my dad's sister and my mom's sister, neither ever married, live with my parents. My Aunt Jo passed away on October 27, 2005. We lost Aunt Helen on January 2, 2007

I attended 12 years of Catholic school. I was, as I am now, a good person. I was not, however, a good teenager. I was a rebel. I was wild. That is all.

I am married and have six children, 5 sons and a daughter. Yes, we were very fertile; no, I did not use birth control, not even Natural Family Planning. I figured that if I was going to trust God to plan my family, I'd trust Him all the way. Just my choice. There are times when I wish I didn't have the scars from the c-sections or the flabby pouch where my once flat belly used to be. But that was a small price to pay for the wonderful children I have. To meet each of my kids, check out the family area of my site.

The man responsible for this crazy crew is my husband, Brian. He's a bricklayer and built our home in 1993. To see his work, check out the remodeling area of my site. We've joked that we'll never get divorced because whoever leaves has to take the kids and neither one of us wants them. The kids have never found much humor in that joke.

In June, 2001, Brian, our son, Chris and a friend, Shaggy, were in Hawaii for 4 weeks doing a block job. I spent a week there and didn't want to come back. I'm determined to live there someday, after the kids are past the cereal stage since the cheapest we saw it was $8/box! Still, it was paradise...

Since September, 1999, I have worked as tech support for my local ISP. It was the perfect job for me after being home for so long. The people I work with have become like family to me. I have found a part of myself that I'd lost over the years and I am stronger today than I'd been in years. Unfortunately, dialup is dead and the original owners of WeirNet all sold out their share of the business. Not long afterward, I was terminated. In retrospect, it was a good thing. Those who remained at that business were not the ethical, good people who hired me in 1999.

I am a formerly skinny/tiny-person-turned-fat-person-turned normal person. I started my marriage at 97 pounds, blew up to 185 at my heaviest non-pregnant weight and lost over 65 pounds on the Atkins plan. I'm a low-carb convert.

Still reading? Wow! Okay, I love music. I can't sing at all. I took piano lessons for a couple years but can barely remember the finger positions now. Still, I love music. Mostly, I love to dance. I always wanted to take dance lessons, gymnastics, that sort of thing, but my mom never let me. I like a lot of different kinds of music. I love the Beatles, Stones, Alice Cooper, Rush, Foreigner, Black Sabbath, Carole King, Aretha Franklin, Phil Collins, Aerosmith, Santana, Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Jackson Five, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Matchbox Twenty, They Might Be Giants, Rod Stewart, Eric Clapton, Madonna, Nellie, Steve Miller Band.... the list goes on and on. And if you're looking for something new, I have two friends who have bands, Voxious and One Egg Ticket. Both bands have very sexy drummers.

My oldest son and three of his buddies accompanied me to a Red Hot Chii Peppers concert in the summer of 2000, in Cleveland. Blossom Amphitheatre sucked but the band was great.

For mother's day, 2001, I got a tattoo. My friend Amity took a picture of it. Elizabeth drew the tattoo and Greg did the actual work. There is a story behind it, why I chose this particular tattoo. My tattoo is a dandelion with six seeds swirling around it. You can see it here. I am a dandelion.

My best friends, in no particular order, are my mom, my cousin Dena, my neighbors BJ and Tammy, Amity.

Had enough? No? Well, my favorite food is sausage and pepperoni; my favorite colors are red, black and dark green and sometimes yellow. My best memories are of my gramma. I like getting dressed up and I like wearing jeans. I love to lift weights and work out. I'd rather live near the ocean than anywhere else. I don't smoke pot but I think it should be legal. I think I'm a libertarian. I'd like to own and learn to use a gun. I'd like to be a staff member of the white house. I'd like to host a talk show about Important Issues. When I grow up, I want to be Oprah Winfrey or Jamie Lee Curtis.

That's it. If I think of anything else, I'll add another page.....
