Terrible Ones?

Kendyll will be one year old at the end of January. She’s been walking without holding on for about a week or so. And she’s driving all of us crazy!

I’ve got 6 kids so I’m quite accustomed to kids getting into cupboards and stuff. No problem there. And I don’t mind sprinting to the dog food bowl every few minutes because Kendyll is determined to try the Kibbles. What is making all of us crazy is Kendyll’s newfound aversion to sleep.

That’s right. The girl is fighting sleep like I’ve never seen before. Her eyes are half open, her head nods and then BOOM! She’s back up again, running around. It’s like she’s afraid she’ll miss something.

This is just really strange because she’s been really good about naps and sleeping before this. I don’t know what’s gotten into her but we need to fix it soon before we all lose our minds! Anyone have any ideas?

Way To Go, Verizon!

My phone line died on Monday. Not the whole service, just the line we use for voice. It’s also the line with DSL and that was okay. I thought that was weird but I was just happy I still had my intenet. Oh, and the fax line was working. And I have a cell phone so it wasn’t like I was without voice service.

I was shopping all day yesterday and totally forgot about the phone. So I called Verizon this morning. They said someone would be out tomorrow. Okay, I can live with that. Afterall, I had my DSL,

Then about 30 minutes ago, I lost my DSL. ACK!!! I was in a panic. I called Verizon but before they could test the line, my phone rang! Seems a worker was in the area and after he finished his scheduled call, he checked and saw my work order. So he grabbed it and fixed it, too. :)

I know that one great worker doesn’t make the whole company great but I figured that since I complain about that one bad worker at various companies, I ought to congratulate the good ones, too.

So, good job Mr. Verizon Employee. And thanks, Verizon, for hiring a customer-friendly guy for the job.

Gripe

I’ve had a sinus headache all week. I’m out of Aleve Cold & Sinus, the only thing that works on my sinus headaches. Why am I out of it when I was at the store last night? That’s easy. Because our government is messed up. I’ll explain. (You knew I would.)

Aleve Cold & Sinus has that ingredient that is used to make crystal meth. Since the War on Drugs has been lost many times over and has a worse casualty count than VietNam, Korea, WWI and WWII combined, our lawmakers have decided to now infringe upon the rights and freedoms of law abiding citizens. (Oh, wait! That’s nothing new.)

In order to buy my sinus relief medicine, I must now take a ticket to the pharmacy, show my driver’s license, wait while the pharmacist fills out paperwork and then sign the paperwork in front of the pharmacist. According to one pharmacist, there is more paperwork for these OTC sinus meds than for oxycontin! Imagine that!

That’s all very inconvenient but not enough to keep me from my pain relief. Except that there is apparently a pharmacist shortage in this area (according to the sign at the pharmacy window, at least.) So the pharmacy has cut back on its hours of operation. It closed on Saturday at 3. I was there at 5. I couldn’t get my Aleve Cold & Sinus. I am angry. (And in pain.)

I just wonder how many more rights and freedoms we’re willing to relinquish in the name of “our own good.”

Three’s a charm?

Okay, I’m going to try this one more time.

I love the Red Hot Chili Peppers. I saw them last summer with my son and two of his friends. It was a great concert. I have Californication and Mother’s Milk. I had BloodSugarSexMagic. Jesse borrowed my car after which I could not find the CD. When I did locate it, it was cracked in three pieces. Several months later, a very dear friend burned a copy of it for me. I was thrilled. I loaned my car to my nephew. The CD turned up missing (along with my Nellie CD). He said it was stolen.

Okay, someone did not steal the other CD’s, the cell phone, the CD player, the speakers…..just two CDs, one homemade. That makes sense. Sure.

So yesterday, I stopped to pick up the new They Might Be Giants CD. (Yes, I love it.) The temptation to get my favorite RHCP CD was too great; I could not resist. I bought it. I told Jesse and Hoot that when they are using my car, they are to protect that CD with their lives.

If it turns up missing, broke, scratched or otherwise unusable, heads will roll!
