The more I clean around here the more I realize that I can’t just throw stuff out when it can surely be used. I had to send Nick to the store for moving boxes and crates so I can do a proper job of sorting.
I’m hoping to send clothes and other basic supplies to those who were hit by the Tornado in Iowa over the weekend. I understand that many people lost EVERYTHING. I can’t imagine that. I can’t replace cherished pictures or other mementos but at least I can help with the basics.
If anyone is interested in helping in any way, please check out Miss Britt’s blog for more details. She’s there now, helping out her husband’s family, but will be updating via a friend with more information on how to help.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and Rene Syler is a proud Susan G. Komen for the Cure Ambassador. Good Enough Mother author, noted journalist, former anchor of CBS News’ The Early Show, Ms. Syler’s monumental decision to a get a preventative double mastectomy was inspired by her family history — both her mother and father have had breast cancer. There have been only a handful of films that have left me feeling hopeful and really good about humanity. Schindler’s List was one of them. Most of the time, though, film are either purely for fun or are downright disturbing. I won’t name the ones that I find absolutely offensive and a waste of time. That isn’t what this is about.
This is about finding a film that makes you feel better. In fact, it may actually make you feel like there’s hope for tomorrow and that each of us can make a difference. This film has already begun to do that in a small way and will now be ablet to do that on a much larger scale.
The Ultimate Gift began it’s life as a little book about giving. The movie, too, began small. After a few hundred pre-screenings, several million dollars have been raised for various charities. A teen group dedicated to giving, Show Of Hands has even been started based on this film.
But “small” often means low budget and that’s what has kept The Ultimate Gift from being released nationwide. Until now, that is. 20th Century Fox was so impressed with the message of this film that they are releasing it to 800 theaters around the country beginning March 9.
This is the official site of the movie”The Ultimate Gift” and the grass-roots movement its starting to help charities and give to others. Be sure to learn about the Weekend of Giving taking place during the national release of the film.
If you’re tired of movies that demean or degrade, that leave you feeling empty and hopeless or that simply don’t reflect the values that you embrace, please consider marking the weekend of March 9 for the premier of this film and then joining in one of the grass roots campaigns for giving.
I’ve been waiting for something like this to come around. It’s finally here and I know I won’t miss it.

No, I’m not interested in joining a dating service. I’m married and NOT looking. (I can barely handle the guy I have!) I do know people who have utilized online dating sites and a few have actually had success. And who am I to argue with success?
This site, though, is different. And by different, I mean that it has heart. Unlike most dating sites, prescription4love.com specializes in matching up people who have physical conditions that make traditional dating uncomfortable.
The site’s creator was inspired by a brother with Crohn’s Disease who had a colostomy bag. It’s one thing to explain to someone that you have Crohn’s but trying to decide when to mention your colostomy bag is really tricky. With prescription4love.com, that’s taken care of right up front.
Right now, prescription4love.com is a free service while they are getting off the ground. Later, though, a small fee will be charged with a portion of that fee going to a charity for each condition. This really is a dating service with heart, on so many levels.
In order to assist members each step of the way, prescription4love.com provides a comprehensive FAQ as well as a Support page for individual response to questions.
Other conditions covered here are obesity, alcoholism, cancer, deafness and a variety of STDs. ![]()

Have you ever thought about that? Well, I never did until I took the survey asking just that question over at Why Do You Blog? It’s a really quick and easy survey, all on one page.
There’s no need to leave an email address unless you want to be eligible for one of the prizes, including an iPod Shuffle. Not a bad deal for a few minutes of your time.

I’m a believer in Karma. I try very hard not to hurt others because I truly believe that whatever you send out into the world comes back to you. You know, for every action there’s an opposite and equal reaction. I think that applies to the spiritual realm as well.
And now I’ve found a site that lets me monitor my karma and makes me smile, too. I’ve just spent way too much time having fun at ImproveYourKarma.com. Sven Goodsson is an amazing guy who has spent his life improving his karma. Now he’s helping others to do the same.
You can monitor your karma with his karma meter or analyze your karma with his analyzer. Of course I loved the monitor that showed my karma to be awesome, based on my myspace profile. And I’m loving the Karma equalizer. This site has a great message of doing good but it’s loads of fun, too. I can’t wait to show my kids this one.
Now, when you check out Sven and his karma site, be sure to click on the “Get Yours Today” Icon in the lower left corner. That’s how to get a Motorola RED phone to help support the RED charity founded by Bono of U2 to fight AIDS in Africa. There’s even a sidebar to explain how buying the Motorola RED phone will help your karma.
This guy is great. Go there and bookmark it now!

We can make a difference. Sometimes, we just need a little nudge. Today, I’m giving you that nudge.
This is really easy and ought to be affordable for most. My friend, Colleen, is doing the 3-day, 60 mile walk in Tampa for Breast Cancer research. The net proceeds go to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation and the National Philanthropic Trust Breast Cancer Fund.
Colleen is hoping she can get 108 people to donate $20 each so she can reach her goal. Of course, you can donate more or less than that, too. Your donation is tax deductible as well.
Please consider giving to this cause. It would make a wonderful Holiday gesture of love. And if you can’t donate right now, feel free to post this on your journal to help get the word out.
