A Guy With Attitude

  • by Marisa
  • February 2, 2007

I love a guy with attitude. And a sense of humor is icing on the cake. That’s why I love reading “Jimi Morrison’s” Internet. Serious Business blog.

Okay, so Jimi Morrison isn’t his real name. Doesn’t matter. He’s been participating in online communities via forums for quite a while and his observations are right on point. His instruction on how to have a debate regarding the existance of God is the best I’ve ever seen.

Even when he’s discussing something like the terribly overused LMAO, ROFL et el, he slips in an aside that makes me smile: “I find it hard to believe that anyone actually rolls around on the floor and laughs their ass off. I know I never have and I’ve smoked weed.” And that attitude and humor is all over Jimi’s blog.

So read Internet. Serious Business, bookmark iit, add the feed to your reader. And enjoy.

Girly Girls Are Us

  • by Marisa
  • January 31, 2007

I don’t post all the time about the girly girl stuff in my life. But that doesn’t mean it isn’t always on my mind. I love girl talk. I love girl stuff. And now, I’ve found a girl blog that is fast becoming one of the best parts of my blog-reading day.

While I enjoyed her ode to shaving it was Angie’s rambling thoughts on skin that hooked me. The lady can write. And a special “thank you” to Cass for pointing out this very entertaining and worthwhile blog

Online Community, Real Life Friends

  • by Marisa
  • January 29, 2007

It’s hard to believe that it’s been eleven years since I first joined this worldwide phenomenon called the internet. Back in 1996, I discovered a parenting site and immediately immersed myself in its forum or “community boards.”

Friendships were forged despite most of us being just a cute username on the screen. Few of us even posted our pictures back then. It was more about connecting with others and sharing our lives and wisdom.

Not much has changed since then.

The whole social networking thing is simply and grandchild of the old boards and forums. It’s still about sharing, getting to know each other, connecting with others. It’s still about people.

It doesn’t matter what your passion is. For me back then, it was parenting. For some it could be movies or scrapbooking. For many, Poker brings the community together.

My son loves the poker communities. He learns about various tournaments and even trades hints and tricks with others. I thought it was really interesting when he mentioned wanting to meet some of the people at the poker forum he frequents. I’ve met online friends so I understand that.

Social networking is not a replacement for real life friendships but it certainly is a supplement to it and in some cases, a stepping stone to real lifetime connections.

Have You Been To The Moon Lately?

  • by Marisa
  • January 18, 2007

My friend Jenn has been there and left her footprints behind.

Jenn has been documenting her weight loss with WeightWatchers through Weight Loss Wednesdays. Very interesting and I may just have to join her. I don’t do WW but I am on a mission to lose weight. I’m definitely going to ask her about this Wednesday meme.

I’m also going to ask her about this whole pickles-for-breakfast thing. I love pickles but I’ve never had them for breakfast. I need to know how that’s working for her. I may have to add that to my daily menu. :)

Just Wait til You See

My friend Suni did a great graphic of the two of us. She emailed it to me and as soon as I saw it I knew. I knew that it was going to Ted at PayPerPost for his wall of Posties.

Ted needs to reserve a really great spot for this one. I got the frame this evening and the picture will be mailed first thing in the morning. I wonder how long it will take to get to Florida from West Virginia?

Whatever Amy Feels Like

  • by Marisa
  • January 12, 2007

That’s what you’ll read at Amy’s blog. Some days she feels like quizzing you on songs; other times Amy is pondering the various companies that make pooper scoopers for dogs. Just when you think you know what she’ll post next, she surprises you with a neat computer trick. Amy has an interesting way of handling her boys, too.

Stop by and visit Amy, tell her you love her blog and ask her about Grace, the newest member of her family.

Yep, that would be my friend Cass. Not only does she take great photos, write some great blogs and knit all kinds of great stuff, she has 8 kids! I’m beginning to feel like I wimped out with just 6 kids.

Recently, Cass found a few spides while cleaning her kitchen. After much research and forum posting, it was finally determined that Cass had found common house spiders. Whew! That was scary for a while. From the pictures, I was really worried they were brown recluse spiders. But I was really impressed with the great close-up photos Cass got.

One of my favorite photos on Cass’s photo blog is her picture of her duaghters entitled “Sisters.” That photo is so much fun and just oozes love. If you want ot see more great photos of Cass, her kids  and her world, bookmark her site and check it out each day. There’s always something there worth seeing.
