I’ve always done things a little different than the norm. I guess that makes me a rebel. And it’s no wonder that my kids are the same way. They do thing their way.
That’s why when Nick and Britanie get married, their daughter, Kendyll, will be their flower girl. In fact, I imagine she’ll be a very big part of her Mommy and Daddy’s big day. That may not be how most couples do it but it doesn’t matter. We go with the flow here.
It will be important for Kendyll to look just as beautiful as her Mommy that day. She’ll need a gown that let’s her shine, too. Now I know that in the end, it will be Britanie who gets to choose the colors and styles for her wedding day. That doesn’t mean, though, that I won’t have a little bit of a say in it. Luckily for me, Brit and I have very similar tastes.

But that’s my obsession. I’m pretty certain that even if I could talk Britanie into it, my own son would say, NO WAY. He’s been surrounded by dandelions here at home, you know.

My family room couch is ugly. No, really. It’s horrendous. It’s a sleeper couch and it’s old, so it’s super heavy. And it’s got this flowered yellow fabric on it. Ugly.
In the past 14 years we’ve had 5 other couches. Only the first two were brand new when we got them. When you have 5 sons, things like couches are subject to extreme abuse. Like having a 5′8″ teenaged boy bodyslammed on it. If you didn’t know, that will definitely break the frame. Even if the couch is just 5 months old.
So now that I’m down to two boys still at home, I’ve been looking at club furniture, and trying to decide what style of couch or sofa I’d like. I think I want something that is a little bright, but sleek and stylish. I think I’ve found exactly what I want. All I need now is the okay from the husband.
I wonder if this is a good time to mention new flooring, too.

Over the past ten years, I’ve relied more and more on email and less on snail mail. Let’s face it, email lets you eliminate several steps in the process. You know, like addressing an envelope, stamping it, taking it to the mail box or post office. Why would anyone choose snail mail?
And yet, there are things about snail mail that I miss. Shhh! Don’t tell anyone. I don’t want to lose my geek status around here. But yeah, I miss things like pretty stationary. And no, I do not, will not use “stationary” in my emails. Email is text. Period.
Anyway. I also miss pretty return address labels like the ones I use to have with a fancy “M” on them. I’ve toyed with the idea of having some printed with my dandelion graphic on them. But I just don’t use snail mail that much. Isn’t that sad?
Perhaps it’s time to put pen to paper and actually write a note to someone I care about. I’ll dig up the nice stationary, my favorite pen and maybe even one of those pretty address lables I haven’t used in ages. Yes, I think that’s what I’ll do.

If you’ve been paying attention, you know that Jesse has returned to Hawaii. You should also know that Brian and #3 son, Nick, have made their way to Hawaii to join Jesse. It sure is nice to have a warm place to work construction when the weather here turns so nasty. And it’s really nice that the guys will have a condo or apartment or house, meaning I’ll have a place to stay when I come to visit. And I do plan to get over there.
And to that end I have scoured the internet for Cheap Flights but none are cheap enough for me. I’m getting really discouraged. A few weeks ago when I first started looking, I found a flight for just under $500. WOOT! I was thrilled, but not ready to purchase that flight since we were still working on Brian and Nick’s flights. Now, those flights have skyrocketed to over $700! NOT FAIR!
Why can’t I find a site like Monarch Airlines, with affordable flights, for US trips? Really, every travel site should take a page from Monarch’s site. Besides the great prices, they also have excellent seating information. On a long flight like the one I’ll be taking, and traveling with the baby granddaughter, too, it would be great to get that extra legroom. In fact, I love how they spell out every detail so you’ll know just what to expect.
Okay, so I guess I’ll get back to searching US flights. I’ll revisit Monarch when I find a way to visit my cousin in Scotland. I’m just glad I’ll have a site that makes that part of the trip so much more pleasant.

I don’t know why it is, but every mp3 player we have around here needs new earbuds. Seems the ones that come with the mp3 player just don’t last.
If they were all the same brand I’d think that was the problem. But we have 2 iRiver, 2 Sandisk and one Panasonic. We have one set of original working earbuds and that’s probably because I don’t use my iRiver very often.
