New, Sleek And Sweet: My Makeover

Notice anything different? Why, of course you do! My dark header and lone dandelion are gone, my sidebars are cleaned up and slimmed down and I’m sporting an entirely new look. So tell me, what do you think?
Christopher Schmitt was asked by the good folks at Izea to make over my blog for the Izeafest Conference last month. What you’re seeing now is the result – a slimmed down and much more appropriate look for My Dandelion Patch.
I must say, I panicked a little over the thought of losing one of my sidebars. I’d become attached to all my “stuff” that I stored there. How in the world would I pare it all down to fit in one narrow space? This was worse than the time I cleaned out my makeup and gave almost everything to my daughter.
The panic lasted about a minute before I realized that most of the stuff on my sidebars was outdated and useless. I could probably tidy it even more but for now, I’ll leave it as is. One little step at a time, as my friend Deb tells me.
So, what do you all think? You can see the original at Christopher’s flickr account, if you don’t remember how it used to look. Better yet, here’s a screenshot that I didn’t know I had.

It looks wonderful, I love it!! I just switched to a one sidebar theme myself– I lost all the content in my sidebars when Bluehost tried to blow up my account and never bothered to put it back. By the time I got around to it I realized most of it didn’t matter anyways.
Oh, I agree. I was really freaking out about not having enough room in one sidebar but you’re absolutely right. Most of the stuff I had there didn’t matter and didn’t belong there. I’m so grateful to Izea and Christopher Schmitt for this.

It is really a big step trying to make over your blogs look and feel. You are worried that some features might get lost while in the process of trimming down your blog. But when the results are already in, you will just be surprised and so glad that you went through with it…

I come from a big family – 10 kids! So I can relate to loving family. You’ve got some wonderful thoughts and your theme puts an instant smile on my face.
