Sometimes, when it rains, it pours. Other times, you get hit with a tsunami. Like now. Seriously, I am thisclose to running away and never coming back. I’ve already checked prices on hotels in las vegas, phoenix, the Keys and even Mexico. I really need a vacation. Oh, but wait! I can’t afford that because every machine in my life is plotting against me.
The Honda will be repaired. For now, though, we can’t drive it. That leaves us with Brian’s truck, which he uses for work and gets about 10 mpg, Nick’s car and my car. Except now we don’t have my car.
Jesse drove my car to work this morning because he needed to leave early to go to his friend’s graduation. He and his dad both pulled in at the gas station and filled up. Brian left while Jesse was still paying inside. When Jesse got in the car, it wouldn’t start. Nothing. Dead.
He pushed the car to the mechanic across the street then called my oldest son’s fiance for a ride. Jump ahead to this afternoon. The mechanic claims the problem is a fuel pump and the charge to fix it is going to be (are you ready for this?) $630!!!!
Yeah, like I’m going to pay that.
So I called AAA to tow my car to my regular mechanic who also happens to be my own personal Car Angel, Rich from R&S Automotive on Main Street in Weirton. He’s going to do the work for about half what the thieving mechanic quoted. Of course, I still have to pay for the diagnosis: $58 plus tax. What a racket.
A few thoughts are bouncing around in my head right now. Like, if you have a kid who doesn’t want to go to college but loves working on cars, by all means encourage him to work on cars. This world needs honest mechanics.
Also, if you have a good mechanic like Rich at R & S Automotive in Weirton, treat him well. Those ones are priceless.
Finally, is Mars bouncing off the walls of my fourth House or something? Apparently something is happening to turn all our vehicles against us.

I am with you, for the past 3 years (3) i have been trying to go on holiday. But for one reason or another something has stopped me. My boyfriend has the worst of it! the first year his job were treating him really bad - Loch Fyne Restaurant Birmingham Sutton Coldfield - never work for them! They forgot to pay him for months, and slowly he didn’t have any money to get there and pay petrol or our marquee we were about to hire for my birthday party. He left anyway, and they didn’t pay him!! Anyway, since then has been with 3 companies, another 2 treated him like poo, and finally in the last 3 months he has found a godsend of an employer. So thats two years without a holiday. Now we plan on going in October - booked the time off, but he still needs to send for his passport when he next gets payed. I don’t think our holiday will happen - again, all because of his employers! GRRR. So its my 21st this year and i am planning a party for it. I am hiring marquees from Birmingham so that is something to look forward to anyway.
But yer, sorry about the ranting, but i someone up there doesn’t want us to go on holiday!!
God wants you to trade in a care or two abd buy bycicles for every one ; )
Marisa, I wondered the same thing..I stop feeling down and yes what your going through would make me sad as well. It seems like the issues never stop and at 62 I’m tired.
Wishing you a better two weeks then I just had..
Blessings Dorothy from grammology
Well, you could have just spent those money you paid for your car to another thing, say like a vacation. everyone needs a vacation away.
Honest mechanics are like good teachers, hard to come by. Fortunately I do my own mechanical work but the spares shop is another rip off! Looks like it’s everyone for themselves these days. I hope your car’s all fixed up now … usually when one thing breaks, another two follows soon after …
Good mechanics for your car is quite expensive usually. It’s better to have warranty on a car to get rid of auto machanics at all -) It’s a headache anyway to tow the car to the repair shop and pay the bills for auto reapirement.
