Sand Castles In My Yard
By Marisa | April 18, 2008
Let me tell you about kids and sand and water. No, I’m not talking about the beach. I’m talking about my backyard.
We took our pool out last summer because it was 14 years old and past its prime. Under the pool was sand. Some of that sand is still in the backyard, having rested under snow for most of the winter. Kendyll has discovered that sand and loves it.
No problem. All my kids have enjoyed playing in the sand. Heck, I loved playing in sand when I was a kid, too. Kendyll, though, is a genius. She found the outside water faucet and figured out how to turn it on. No doubt, she saw her dad using it to hose off the sidewalk, we just didn’t think she’d get the idea to water her sand!
Dry sand is one thing. Wet sand, combined with grass and dirt, is something else. I was really wishing we had that pool back there because it would have been much easier than bringing her inside to bath her. Now excuse me while I try to vacuum up all the sand in my bathroom.
