So Much Like Gramma!

I’ve always said that quite a number of traits skip a generation. Sometimes my son Jesse is so much like my mom that it scares me. I’ve waited, too, for a kid who enjoys the technical side of computing – hardware, software, coding, whatever – as much as I do. So far, they just want to surf and socialize.

Kendyll, though, just may follow in Gramma’s footsteps. She loves playing in my office and has already found my secret box of tools for tearing apart computers. Looks like I’ll have to come up with a better tool storage solution with Kendyll around. A few minutes with a phillips screwdriver and there’s no telling what she’ll have torn apart!

A week or so ago I was sitting at the kitchen counter with my laptop. Kendyll was sitting on the bar stool next to me, eating macaroni. I was typing and concentrating when I looked over and saw Kendyll with her hands spread out across the counter, tapping her fingers as if she was typing! It was the funniest thing to watch because she kept glancing over at my fingers, and then back at her own. She was working so hard!

This past weekend Kendyll saw Maggie get up from her laptop so Kendyll jumped at the chance to do a little web surfing. She kept busy there for about 15 minutes. That girl just loves technology! She typed and even figured out, from watching Maggie, how to move the cursor using the touchpad. Isn’t she just adorable? And don’t you just love (little) girly geeks?

  • Ha! I’m so glad it isn’t just me with the computer children.
