My son, Boomer, is one interesting kid. He’s always been very sweet and loving. He has a tender heart. And yet, there are times when I truly believe that he and his sister are going to kill each other.
Most interesting about Boomer, though, is his hair. He’s got these great lush curls when his hair grows long. When it’s short, it’s super thick and grows quickly. Boomer takes advantage of that by taking chances with his hair. He’s not at all afraid of the results because, after all, it’s just hair.
So last week Boomer asked me to bleach his hair. He wanted it “gold” so that he could use temporary color to make it green and gold for his school’s football game. It took two bleaching kits to get his dark brown hair gold instead of orange. But we did it! Boomer’s hair turned out more gold than orange. So, on to step two.
On Thursday I took Boomer to get his hair cut. We went back to Lauren who did his original Mohawk. This time Boomer asked for a longer cut and Lauren obliged. She showed Boomer how to make it stand on end using hair spray although Boomer prefers hair gel. Surprisingly, it turned out really nice. I don’t know why I like Boomer’s hair cut in such odd styles but I do. Must be that adorable face. Seems he can wear just about any hairstyle and still look great.
The green tips turned out great, if you ask me. Quite a few people asked to take his picture at the game. The 1987 team that had a perfect 13-0 season was there for induction into the school Hall of Fame so Boomer was a real treat for them.
And naturally, Boomer is a typical Leo so he really enjoyed the attention. I just have to wonder what that kid will think of next. Anyone care to guess?

HA! That looks awesome!
I have the same kind of hair. I used to cut it really short, and then dye it bleach bleach blond. Then I would wait for it to grow out, and I would have golden tips.
I looked terrible the first week (too yellow) great the second and third weeks, and then the fourth week it got a bit long.
Looks like you have a very expressive son there. Always a plus.
