I have no idea what has grabbed Kendyll and Belle’s attention in this picture. They’re looking straight into the foyer where there’s a picture window. Except from that angle, you can’t see out the window. Maybe they were both simply fascinated with the afternoon sunlight streaming in. Like when they get fixated on ceiling fans whirling overhead.
I just know I came from the kitchen to check on Kendyll and found her with Belle, just like this. After about 15 seconds of holding back my giggles, I ran to my office to get the camera. Neither of them moved until I walked around to the front. That’s when Belle stood up, Kendyll slid off the back to the floor and cried. I should have snapped this photo and walked away, I guess.

Aww that picture is adorable!
Don’t leave her alone with the dog.
I had a dog myself, and yes it happened: one bit and we had to say goodbye to him.
That sure IS adorable. We had a border collie when I was growing up. My sister used to sit on that dog the same way. We could also get the dog to pull us across the kitchen floor if we sat on a small throw rug (one at a time, of course).
this is what a call a dog ride.
Maybe they were looking at something we as adults can’t see. Children and animals are known to see spirits, so maybe it was one? They can’t just be starring into thin air for that amount of time. One of them, okay that could be possible. But both towards the same place? Kinda creepy.
Thanks, Jenn. I couldn’t have posed it that way if I wanted to!
Oh, that would be hilarious! Belle thinks she is Kendyll’s babysitter. She hardly ever leaves her side. Considering Kendyll’s mischievous nature, I can only imagine what these two will come up with as Kendyll gets older.
Yes, I suppose you could call it that.
You can say that again! I figured they were looking at the light streaming through the window. From their angle, they couldn’t see out of the window but the sun would be shining through and maybe it was making pretty patterns or something. Definitely odd.
Thanks for the comment.
That is a cute picture. Is the dog an active participant? Does she like the attention from all kids or just Kendylle? Or is she just very tolerant?

Belle doesn’t know she’s a dog. When the kids come home from school, she stands next to me waiting to jump up on each of them and get a hug, just as I do. If they forget to turn to her to hug her, she whines.
With Kendyll, she very “mothering” if that makes any sense. Belle is now 5; Kendyll will be two in January. From the day we brought Kendyll home (they live here with us) Belle has stuck by her side. The first time Kendyll crawled toward the 3 steps to my office, it was Belle who saw her and alerted us. My husband was about to scold Belle for acting up while he was eating his supper when he turned and saw Kendyll less than 6 inches from the steps. Up until then, she had never made it even close to there in that amount of time!
Oh, and Kendyll feeds Belle all the time. Every meal. I’m sure that has helped to seal the relationship.
“Belle doesn’t know she’s a dog”… LOL! ssshhh… nobody tell her.
that is too cute!
Aw, thanks.
such a cute photo! you have very well caught the complicity that exists between Kendyll and Belle! words can’t explain how touching this foto is!
