Sounds Of Silence

For those of you who have no children or grown children or even just one or two children, you might not totally understand this. Just trust me, it’s significant.

Right now, Brian is in the bedroom, watching a cowboy movie. Nick and Brit are in the family room watching the Law & Order marathon. I’m here on the computer. And that accounts for everyone in this house right now!

Boomer is spending the week with his friend Nick. Maggie is at Kaitlynn’s birthday party. Levi is camping with Little Levi and Tyler and their dad. Kendyll is at Brit’s mom’s house. And of course, Chris and Jesse no longer live here.

That means that there are no children running around. There is no one who is “bored” or hungry or needs to be driven someplace. No baby is tapping on the keyboard of the old laptop set up just for her; no one is tossing a nerf ball into my kitchen garbage can, pretending the dining room is a basketball court.

In fact, other than the muffled voices from my bedroom TV and my keyboard, the house is eerily silent. How very bizarre.
