Slow Down The Summer!

I can’t believe that we’re not even through July and stores are already marketing to students with their back-to-school stuff. At a local discount store, I walked right past the school supply display and I was just speechless. Mid-July, and they’re already putting out notebook paper, pencils and crayons!
At the mall, there are back-to-school signs and displays of the latest fashions from Air Jordan shoes to blue jeans and t-shirts. Maybe I was even more amazed that kids were actually shopping for this stuff. It’s only July – don’t be thinking about school already!
I know. Let’s all go to the pool and pretend that summer is forever.

Hah! I wish summer lasted longer. Three of our kids started school last Thursday. We are in a year-round district. It does suck, but thats why the supplies are out. For the schools that start in late July and early to mid August. Some private schools start in early August in other areas of the country too.
It’s nuts, but that’s how come
I would hate year-round school. I love when the kids are home for the summer.
As far as I know, there is no year-round here. This is a small area so I’d have heard about it if any districts or individual schools had implemented it.
For the past several years school has started on my son’s birthday, August 23. I remember when we always started back on the Tuesday after Labor Day. Those were the days!
Summer this year is not like summer here in Europe its raining!!!!
