Pick Up Your Shoes!

Several weeks ago, before we began preparing for our concrete pour, I posted about my husband removing my side porch with the intention of replacing it with a laundry room/mud room. That’s a fantastic idea and I know I’ll love it. When I will love it is the question. We haven’t begun to build it and considering it took 14 YEARS to get my sidewalks poured, there’s no telling when I’ll get my sideporch back.
So, why do I care? Well, it’s all about my front door and the foyer and the fact that it’s the door being used now. Yes, we have a back door. But that door has opening issues (which, by the way, began about two months after we got the french doors) so we really use it only to let Belle out now that the pool is gone. And that’s the other thing. It’s better to not go in the back and have Belle jump up to greet you which she will do because she doesn’t know she’s a big dog.
So now my foyer is beginning to accumulate shoes. They’re everywhere. I was going to put my flip flops away and take a picture of the remaining shoes but I thought that wouldn’t be fair. After all, mine are there, too. So, my once tidy foyer is now a big shoe mess. See for yourself.

I have a basket by my front door. The shoes don’t always end up in it, but it’s there
Go get ‘em, Imelda!
Happy to see a hallway that looks like mine
I had one near the side door. It used to get filled up with everything except shoes. Empty pop cans, baby toys, dog bones, socks, pop tart wrappers… There’s just way too many people in this house for me to chase after all of them. Want a couple of them?
Only one pair of those are mine. My other 50 or so pair are neatly lined up in my closet. In plastic see-through boxes. Because I like shoes.
Oh, you’re not alone!
I do that…I’m bad, I have shoes under the kitchen table, under my spare desk in the dining room, by the foyer…etc.
