Find Your Charity And Give

When illness strikes close to home it’s often a wakeup call. When I learned that another of my cousins had been diagnosed with breast cancer I felt like I’d been hit by a truck. It also prompted me to look into various charities that focus on medical research. The extensive list of these organizations at IPA-IBA Charities was encouraging. Now I have some homework to do.

I think sometimes we forget how important non-profit charities and volunteer organizations really are. We tend to take these things for granted. I’m ashamed to admit that when I throw a dollar or two into a bucket or Salvation Army kettle, I don’t give much thought to how important those dollars are or how much good they do. Nor do I consider that those who volunteer are even more vital to the cause.

Medical research is costly. Without donations to foundations and charities, many of the breakthroughs over the past several decades would have come about. My cousin would not have been given any hope at all.

Let’s remember that charity is one of those things that you give with the hopes of never needing the favor returned. And then give to whatever cause you believe to be worthy. Just give.
