Bye-bye Curls

My 4th son, Boomer, is special. He’s about the most level-headed kid I know. He’s polite (usually), considerate (mostly), and just a joy to be around. Oh, and he’s easy on the eyes, too.
Boomer has these deep, dreamy eyes that always made it nearly impossible for me to discipline him. Now tell me, how can any mother scold a child with those eyes? Thank goodness Boomer never needed much discipline. He easily could have gotten away with murder!
I’ve been going through Boomer’s pictures and realized that he never went through one of those “awkward” phases. All of the other kids have but Boomer has always looked so sweet. And he is sweet. He’s got a heart of gold and a smile that brightens my whole day.
And Boomer has curls! His curls aren’t tight and fuzzy like mine; they’re big and luscious. I love Boomer’s hair! When he was about 3 years old he decided he was not getting his hair cut anymore. Until just before his 5th birthday, we let his hair grow. It was so beautiful but he wanted it cut for school.
So now my boy’s hair is long and curly again. Well, it is for now at least. June 4th is the last day of school. One day during that week, we’re going to get Boomer’s hair cut so he can donate it to Locks of Love. It’s a really nice thing to do, but I have to admit that I’m going to miss those beautiful curls.

I think this is probably one of the last pictures of Boomer with his curls. (He almost never stands still for a picture so I don’t expect to get another before the snipping.) Boomer is standing with his cousin, Luke. Those curls, when pulled straight or wet, are much longer than they appear here.
Stay tuned for new pictures of short-haired Boomer.

Wow! He looks like his momma! Kudos to him for giving.
Boomer without curly locks? When does Armegeddon arrive?!
By the way, you’re not just being a proud momma. He really is a great kid.
Yes, he looks a lot like you! What a handsome boy, and a generous gift
He looks an awful lot like my dad at that age, actually. He’s got my dad’s eyes.
Awwww, thank you sweetie.
I think God intended him as my reprieve between Nick and the teenaged daughter. Are you ready for that? I’m not!
Thanks, Julie! Luckily for him, he isn’t going to be short like his mom.
Congrats on raising a boy that is willing to cut his beautiful hair to give it to a worthy cause. My daughter and I are doing this July 7th, her birthday.
Isn’t it heartwarming when people give like this? I’m really proud of him.
And good job with your daughter, too!
Locks of Love is an awesome cause! How fabulous for your son to do something so kind!
We went to do this today but the barber shop was closed! I guess we’ll do it again tomorrow.
