Shoe Shopping

Maggie and I went shopping the other day and had a heck of a time finding shoes for her. We seemed to look everywhere at the mall and the surrounding area. I kept wishing there were still small shoe stores where you could actually get fitted for proper shoes like when I was younger.

When we were kids we got all our shoe’s at Marlinn’s shoe’s, run by Mr. and Mrs. Blinn. When my kids were young, I took them to Michael’s shoes where Mike O’Brien fitted you the old fashioned way and suggested the best brands and styles for your foot shape. Oh, those were the days.

Now those shoes stores have become furniture stores and there isn’t a real shoe salesman for miles and miles around. That’s why weary mothers must spend entire weekends trying to find just one pair of shoes. Who said progress is a good thing?
