Old Dreams
By Marisa | April 13, 2007
When I was younger, but old enough to be an adult, I had this silly dream of working at Disney World in Florida. Yeah, I know. Doesn’t every kid want to work there?
But I got this idea because when I visited my aunt and uncle in Melbourne at the age of 16, I met a guy who played Micky Mouse for a few years. He showed me a few of his momentos and some pictures from that time and I thought that was the greatest job ever. Yes, I know now about the heat and the kids and stuff. But I was young.
I went so far as to price apartments and Orlando vacation rental properties. Even that long ago (because I’m really old) the prices were well above what I could afford. I had this great idea to drag along a few friends who could share a place with me but no one was adventuresome as I was, I guess. Florida just seemed too far from home for any of my friends.
Or maybe none of them thought they’d have as much of a chance since they’re all normal height and I’m, well, short. ![]()
