My Real Space

I have a nice home. It’s bigger than most in my neighborhood. There are lots of places in my house to hang out and relax but there’s just one place that belongs to just me. No, it’s not my bedroom since I have to share that with my husband. And it’s not the kitchen even though some members of this family would like to see me in there a lot more.

My very own space in this house is my office.

Just 8 feet down the hall from my bedroom, my office is all about me. Now that I’ve quit smoking, there are never any ashtrays in there. If I want to bring a snack in there, it’s my choice. When I painted the walls blue two years ago, it was my decision to paint the ceiling the same color (much to my husband’s dismay). I picked out the orange curtains even though everyone laughed at my choice. I hung shelves to display my “Marisa” doll collection because no one wanted them anywhere else in the house.

My house has 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. We have a living room, a family room, a dining room and kitchen. I have a full basement. But I also have a husband, six kids and a granddaughter. My office is the only place in this whole house that is truly mine. And I love it.

After working outside the home for 7 years, I am basking in the warmth of my own space where I can now . It feels good to be here. This is my office. (Click picture for full size)

  • Yes, they are. They’re Little Friends of Kelly (barbie’s little sister) dolls, all named Marisa. :)
