I never thought I’d say this. I never thought I could do it. Those who know me best and love me anyway would be surprised.
I’ve been taking a vacation from the news.
Seriously. Since we’ve been in Hawaii, I’ve watched approximately 15 minutes of national news. Usually, I have Fox News airing all day, sometimes on two different TVs. Only the TV in the family room is not showing the news because that one always has Dora or Diego playing.
So, my friends, have I missed anything? Do we know yet how Anna Nicole died? Do we know who the father of her baby is? Has that Couey monster in Florida been convicted and sentenced yet? Is there any other news that I’ve missed? Presidential election stuff, maybe? Come on! There has to be something going on in the world.
Wouldn’t it be interesting if there is absolutely no news in those situations before I get back home? Just goes to show you how much “nothing” fills the news shows each day, doesn’t it?

You know Marisa, I quit watching the news altogether after Anna Nicole died. I can’t watch it anymore. I want news about the real world and this celebrity crap has no business being on any news stations other than E!. Maybe I should make a celebrity ticker toolbar since apparently all America cares about is
My interest in Anna Nicole has more to do with her enabler than the celebrity angle. I may blog about my take on it later. But really, the story could be about a thousand other people in this world on any given day. Her’ story is not all that unique.
I stopped watching the news years ago…it became depressing…I get my stuff online now, and just skim through what i want to read. If it’s important enough, I’ll hear about it
You’re making me jealous! I would rather be like you and not have to listen to all this celebrity BS and murder reports from an obviously biased media. I’ve converted to just finding the news from different sources on the internet, but even that is kind of hard to trust some times!
I’m addicted to the news!
I have a hard time pulling myself away from it at home. It just sucks you in.
I’m not a big fan of the news on TV… I’ll read it online. There’s too many other entertaining shows to watch!
Nothing new on the Anna Nicole front.
I don’t watch much news. I turn on the news in the mornings while I’m getting ready for work, but that’s mostly for the weather. I try to stay up to date by reading on the internet, but by and large I find the news depressing.
I couldn’t tell you. I don’t watch the news, and I barely read about it either. My Mum had to tell me who our new Senator was I had no idea!
Couey has been sentenced to death. Thank goodness. Rotten horrible monster.
Every time I see Jessica’s dad, my heart breaks. That man is so brave and holds it together as best he can. My heart just aches for him.
I just try to catch my local news just so I know what is going on around here.
no news on the baby’s paternity or on her death. this is insanity!
I avoid the news because it’s depressing. If something important is going on, I’ll pop it on, otherwise, I prefer to get my news online. I skim titles, and decide if I want to know more.
My sister, Grace, refuses to watch the news. I only read CNN’s webpage that comes up as my home page. I usually know more than what comes out in our local paper. I only read our local paper to see if anyone I knew died.
Wow, Marisa - so the news kind of is soap opera-ish, if that turns out to be true about your just picking up where you left off when you get home! LOL
That will be crazy!
I stopped watching the news on TV years ago. Now I just get all my news content online so that I can pick and choose which stories to focus on. When I did watch TV news, I was a FOX girl just like you. Gotta love Fair and Balanced!!
No joke, you pegged it for sure.
I usually listen to the news on the radio. After a while I hear the same thing over and over again. And who knows if they are really telling the truth half the time!
I watch so much less news since 9-11. My oldest son has always tuned into the news. Even when he was 4 years old. He would turn the TV on and watch the news. On purpose! If I watch less, he watches less, and that is a good thing since he worries so much.
I’d love to watch our Malaysian news at 8pm everyday, but unfortunately, my boyfriend and I always go out for dinner at 8pm
So yea, I rely on online news quite a lot
