Can you imagine a video journal of the early days of Microsoft or Apple computers? I’m not talking about reenactments but actual footage from that time, chronicalling the daily lives of Bill Gates and Paul Allen or Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak. It would be fascinating.
Or maybe someone more recent like Google’s founders, Larry Page and Sergey Brin, would be fun to watch. Imagine being a fly on the wall, watching as they develop their algorithm and deploy that first google website. And can you believe that YouTube’s founders never thought to record for prosperity a video diary of their beginnings?
Luckily, one internet entrepeneur is taking advantage of the online video craze. Ted Murphy, founder of PayPerPost, has committed to journaling his company’s infancy on video. Ted’s new website, Rockstaartup.com, is live and airing the first two episodes of his web reality show.
That’s Ted in the picture to the left. I know, the guy has some interesting ears. But I think that’s kind of endearing, seeing as how three of my kids have ears like that. And my granddaughter, too.
But anyway. Head on over and meet all the cool, slightly unbalanced people who are making PayPerPost one of the most fascinating and talked-about web 2.0 startups this year. Be sure to watch all the videos, too. I know I’d love to work in their office. I can’t believe how much fun they’re having and calling it “work!” I think I’d pay them to work there.
If you don’t think you’ll be checking back there, sign up for their email alerts so you’ll know when a new episode is posted. (They won’t spam you or sell your email address. They hate spam.) I predict lots of buzz about this in the coming year. As PayPerPost grows these videos and this website will become an amazing study in the joining of creativity and technology in a Web 2.0 business.
And to think, these people are mostly just having fun!
