My oldest son, Chris, has been divorced for a year but he has now broken all ties with his ex. The jeep he’s been driving was still in her name. Today, she signed the title over to him.
No kids to hold them together, there is no reason for any more communication between them. Chris looks relieved.
Chris has grown up quite a bit in the past few years. He’s come to terms with things in his past. He’s different. He’s been home for four months and he just keeps making me proud, day after day. He’s turned out to be such a fine young man.
His new sweetie is very different than his ex. Leah is down to earth. She goes to college and waits tables at a local eatery. Her parents are both teachers; her dad was also Chris’s coach. Leah and Chris get along well, don’t fight, and seem to enjoy a lot of the same things. She’s active in her church, which is just about the only time she gets “dressed up.” Most days, it’s just jeans and t-shirts. She’s strong and sure of herself. She’s got a beautiful smile that lights up her face and the best cheekbones I’ve ever seen. Must be the Native American in her.
She really seems to like Chris. He didn’t like her nose ring (which, btw, I thought was adorable) so she removed it for him.
Here’s a pic of them at an outdoor concert (aren’t they cute?)

Awwww! She seems really sweet. I’m really glad Chris is so happy and he is doing well
You and me both!
I think you met Leah. Weren’t you at the office when she stopped by one day?
Yep, I was! I only saw her for like 30 seconds, though
It’s funny that you mention the Native American thing with the cheekbones. I’ve been told the same thing, and have been told it must be the Cherokee in me.
Anyway, they sound like a really great couple, like they’re good for each other.
And they look perfect together.
Hi Nikki! It’s been a while. How old is Connor now?
You do have those same cheekbones. I always have to “sculpt” mine with various shades of makeup, otherwise, I’m a flat face.
He’s 10 now, can you believe it?!?
Yeah, Connor and I (reference the most recent pic of us, taken a few hours ago…) he has the same cheekbones.
